The Sobell Judo Club has one of the largest coaching teams of judo clubs in London. Their combined experiences spans across a variety of countries, cultures and all levels of competition from regional to the highest level. All of our dedicated staff are DBS checked and fully first aid qualified.
SAMPSON SAMPSON
9th Dan / Head Instructor
Sobell head instructor and Youtube star, Sampson, is Sobell's longest standing student. Since joining the club in 1984 he has become a world class competitor respected across the globe. Read more
BOB BUSHNELL
6th Dan / Chairman
As club secretary Bob manages the day to day running of the club. He is also responsible for getting every newcomer started via our beginners induction programme. Read more
SAMUEL BETU
6th Dan
Former international competitor, Samuel has accumulated extensive experience in judo training and competition and draws on this experience each week to develop our students. Read more.
SAM SAMPSON
3rd Dan / Vice-Chairman
Sam is a regular coach in our senior sessions. He is an active competitor across both traditional and modern judo. He claimed the WJF European Championship in 2016, placed 2nd at the WJF World Championships in 2019 and qualified for the IJF Cypriot National Team in 2019. He uses his ongoing experience of the current judo circuit to aid the senior sessions with a competitive twist. Read more
